John Edward Smith

John Edward Smith, 95, of Pittsburg, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2023, at his home with family at his side. A funeral service for John E. will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Erman Smith Funeral Home with Brother Ben Warrick officiating. The burial will follow the service at Crossroads Cemetery.

John E. was born on May 28, 1928, in Camp County to O. K. and Huron (Kent) Smith. He was married to Betty Joan Warrick for 61 years until her passing in 2018.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, parents, brother, Reginald K. Smith, son-in-law, Joe Hefner, great-grandson, Levi Jaxon Hefner.

John E. enjoyed his family and the life he shared with his wife, Betty.  He was a farmer, raising and selling peaches, along with his wife, for over 40 years.  He also worked with his children and all grandchildren on the Peach Farm.  He worked at Lone Star Steel prior to the Peach Business.

John E. was a member of South Jefferson Baptist Church and a Veteran of the Korean War.

John E. is survived by his two daughters, Linda Brummell and husband, Reggie Brummell, and Lisa Hefner. Six grandchildren, Cole Hefner, Clay Hefner, Jacob Hefner, Jed Hefner, and Jason Brummell, and Jessica Brummell Davis, Twenty-one great-grandchildren, Caleb Davis, Madison Davis Neageli, Natalie Hefner Easley, Kyleigh, Isaac, Kane, Malea, Elayna, John E., Joe, Eli, Milie, Ian, Shane, Blye, Ava, Ellie, Annelise Hefner, Trey, Tyler, and Trevor Brummell; one great-great-granddaughter, Callie Davis.

Pallbearers will be Cole Hefner, Clay Hefner, Jacob Hefner, Jed Hefner, Isaac Hefner, John E. Hefner, and Jason Brummell.

A visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until start of service at 11:00 a.m.
