James William (Bill) Garland

Funeral services for James William (Bill) Garland, 89, of Pittsburg will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Oglesby officiating.  Interment will be in the Macedonia Cemetery in Camp County.  Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home.  Mr. Garland passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in Lakeway, TX at Brookdale - Lakeway.

Mr. Garland was born July 12, 1933, in Chelsea, OK to Floyd Baxter Garland and Roxie May Henry Garland.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy, retired salesman, and a member of South Jefferson Baptist Church in Mt. Peasant.  He was a renowned, record holding bass and crappie fisherman and owned and operated The Thunderbird Motel, a 50-unit motel in Hillsboro for many years.

He is survived by daughters, Sharon Garland Sweeten and Leigh Ann Garland-Hein, niece Sandra Kay Smith, grandchildren, Jordan Palamar, and Chelsea Kelly, and great-grandchildren, Zoey, Aspen, and Mackenzie Kelly.

Mr. Garland is preceded in death by his wife, Patty Garland, his parents and sister, Betty Jean Garland Amuso.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Palamar, Marshall Sweeten, Jimmy Hein, Cody Kelly, Jose Rodriguez, Joe “Little Joe” Setina, Mario Contreras, and David Contreras.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
