Allene (Gordon) Avent

Mrs. Frances Allene Avent, age 91, of Pittsburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at her home surrounded by family. She was born May 3, 1931 to Rev. E.M. Gordon and Margie Ellen Brasher Gordon in Alva, Mississippi.

She was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman and used her talents of sewing and gardening skills while working at Mike Benet Formals, Faye’s Gift Shop, and Green Thumb Nursery. She was a member of the Rosebud Garden Club and a local quilting group. She was an active charter member of the Pittsburg Church of God.

She is survived by her four children, Linda Bostic and husband Art; Ann Crawford and husband J. Darryl; Rick Avent and wife Marshelle; and Alicia Dotson and husband Russell; grandchildren, Jared Bostic; Heidi Harmon and husband Justin and their children, Milla and Henry; Ryan Dotson and wife Jennifer and their son, Ryker; Kristen Dotson and children, MacKenzie and Michael; Hannah Avent; Josh Bostic and wife Sara and their children, Emerson, Arden, Grafton; and Leah Avent; and a dear sister-in-law, Robbie Gordon.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J.G. Avent; her parents, and brother, Paul Gordon.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 16, 2022 at the Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg. There will be a visitation held before the service beginning at 10:00 A.M.
